ACT Management Employees Secure Annual Wage Increases with New Contract

Richmond, BC—Employees of ACT Management Services Inc., based in Richmond, voted 74 percent in favour of ratifying a three-year collective agreement providing them with annual wage increases and other improvements.

The approximately 60 employees are represented by Transport, Marine, Warehousing, and Allied Workers Union, CLAC Local 66. The union has represented them since February 2015.

The new contract provides employees with a 5 percent wage increase in 2023, 3 percent in 2024, and 2.5 percent in 2025. In addition, the premium for being first-aid certified increases from $0.50 to $1 per hour, and the safety boot allowance premium increases from $100 to $150 annually. Along with five legislated illness and injury days, employees with five or more years with the company will receive an additional two days per year. The contract also includes a number of nonmonetary improvements.

“The union bargaining committee advocated hard for the needs of the membership,” says Aleasha Wegner, CLAC representative. “Contentious issues surrounding statutory holidays were eventually resolved in our members’ favour. Wage expectations were another point of intense discussion, but in the end the agreement includes an immediate solid increase with further moderate increases over the term. The agreement strikes a balance between the needs of the membership while also ensuring the company remains competitive.”

ACT Management Services is a fourth-party logistics company operating in the Lower Mainland primarily in the automotive industry.
