Creating a Safe and Respectful Workplace – Employee Edition (2 Course Series) | Online

This employee training package consists of two courses.

1. Respect in the Workplace

2. Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Foundations

Respect in the Workplace

Respectful workplaces are built through intentional actions, not just the absence of harmful behaviour. This course helps learners identify respectful and disrespectful conduct, understand the impact of incivility, bullying, and harassment, and develop practical skills to prevent issues before they escalate.

Key topics include:

  • Defining respect and why it matters in the workplace
  • Identifying and responding to disrespectful, abusive, or harassing behaviour
  • Understanding bullying, harassment, and sexual harassment (including online)
  • Distinguishing performance management from bullying
  • De-escalation strategies and personal safety
  • Canadian laws protecting workers from workplace abuse

Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) Foundations

Bias and prejudice influence workplace interactions, often unconsciously. This course introduces essential EDI concepts, encourages self-reflection, and explains how bias can impact behaviour, decision-making, and workplace culture if left unaddressed.

Key topics include:

  • Core concepts of equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility
  • Understanding bias, stereotypes, and prejudice and their impacts
  • Social identity, social location, power, and privilege
  • Systems of oppression and how they affect workplace experiences
  • Types of discrimination and harassment, and applicable human rights legislation
