When organizations engage with Indigenous peoples in a meaningful, authentic, and transparent way, they gain the opportunity to harness the knowledge and capabilities of a diverse and fair workplace.

Course Overview 

This online course is designed to provide you with an introduction to Indigenous peoples of Canada. As Indigenous peoples have a long history before Canada even existed, we cannot address every topic, but this course will spark interest for you to learn more about the many cultures within Canada. This online course covers important topics such as important aspects of their vibrant cultures, life in Canada before colonization, and the impacts of colonization, all from the perspectives of Indigenous peoples.

Overall, this online course is composed of seven chapters. These modules include: 

  • Chapter 1: Names and Peoples  
  • Chapter 2: Before Colonization
  • Chapter 3: Meeting of Two Worlds  
  • Chapter 4: Consequences of Colonization
  • Chapter 5: Applying Traditional Knowledge to Current Topics 
  • Chapter 6: Myths and Stereotypes about Indigenous Cultures
  • Chapter 7: Working Together 

Upon completion, you will be presented with a final exam to test your knowledge.
