Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) is a Canada-wide system that provides employers and workers with information on the hazardous products that are stored and used on work sites. This course implements the Globally Harmonized System (GHS) of classification and labelling of chemicals standard for hazard classification and communication. Topics covered include physical and health hazards, health and safety measures, how to choose personal protective equipment, WHMIS hazard classifications, hazard and safety information on WHMIS labels, WHMIS symbols and pictograms, information contained on safety data sheets, worker rights and employer responsibilities, and the importance of education and training. This course was updated in April 2025.
