Audiometric Testing | Company On-site

Many CLAC members in BC work at construction or industrial sites deemed loud enough by WorkSafeBC to require annual hearing tests. CLAC in BC supports this WorkSafeBC program by testing and educating workers within the province with our own mobile industrial hearing testing truck.

Employers in Metro Vancouver may book and schedule CLAC’s mobile truck to visit their site as part of their hearing conservation program. With some planning, locations outside of Metro Vancouver may also be accommodated.

What is Audiometric Testing?

Working in noise is one of the most common workplace health hazards encountered. An annual hearing test will educate and warn of possible hearing loss from industrial noise.

Companies operating in environments with excessive noise (above 85 dBA over an 8-hour period) must implement a noise control and hearing conservation program to safeguard employees from potential hearing loss incurred while working on-site per WorkSafeBC’s Health and Safety Regulation Part 7.

Stages of Audiometric Testing

Initial

Within 6 months of hiring an employee, the initial audiometric test must be completed to determine the employee’s baseline hearing reading.

Periodic

1 year after the initial audiometric test and every 12 months thereafter, a periodic test must be completed which may warn the worker of possible hearing loss from industrial noise.
