Welding Practice Subsidy Program

CLAC is proud to partner with Oil Sands Alliance to help welders sharpen their skills and build confidence through 16 hours of hands-on practice, offered at no cost to successful applicants.

This dedicated practice time gives welders the opportunity to build their skills, strengthen their confidence, and increase their job readiness by preparing for upcoming weld tests and employment opportunities.

Program Details:

  • Practice time is scheduled over two consecutive days, with 8 hours of practice time per day.
  • This program provides dedicated practice time only and does not include formal instruction or instructor-led training.
  • Applicants must be CLAC members with dues in good standing at the time of booking.
  • Successful applicants will be asked to complete follow-up questionnaires about their experience and how the program has supported their career development and advancement.
  • Photos of successful applicants participating in the program may be used by CLAC and/or Pathways Alliance for marketing and promotional purposes.
  • Participants may also be invited to share their experience through a testimonial, story, or interview with CLAC and/or Pathways Alliance for promotional purposes.
  • Practice and training options including but not limited to:
    • Initial B-Pressure Examination
    • AIT Practical Examination
    • CWB Testing
    • Pressure Recertification
    • Downhand
    • Roll welding

Bookings are available Monday through Wednesday, 8am – 4pm. Practice time is subject to shop availability.

Cancellation Policy

To ensure practice time is available to as many eligible participants as possible, we ask applicants to provide adequate notice if they are unable to attend their scheduled booking.

  • A minimum of 24 hours’ notice is required to cancel or reschedule any booth booking.
  • Any rescheduled booth time must take place within the same calendar month as the original booking and is subject to availability.
  • Applicants who do not attend their scheduled practice time without providing the required notice will forfeit their spot in the program and will no longer be eligible to participate.
