CLAC is an accredited training institute for providing welder technical training for all levels—from pre-employment to journeyperson.
In the first period of training, students will complete the Alberta Apprenticeship and Industry Training (AIT) curriculum over an 8-week session.
Students are provided instruction and supporting information on safety, drawings and blueprints, understanding welding flaws, the tools of the trade, and trades mathematics.

Please note: This program is designed for experienced welders and is not intended for beginners. Students must already be registered welding apprentices in Alberta. It is recommended that students have completed 1,560 welding hours before registering for the program.
Section 1 – Workplace safety and tools
Section 2 – Welding technology and properties of metals
Section 3 – Gas metal arc welding, flux cored arc welding, metal cored arc welding, submerged arc welding
Period 1 - $1,396
Individual Learning Modules (ILMs) can be purchased at the CLAC Welding Shop
Students must provide their own personal protective equipment (PPE). These requirements are in accordance with regulations under Alberta’s Occupational Health & Safety Act.
