Initial B Pressure Certification Subsidy Program

CLAC is proud to partner with Oil Sands Alliance to help journeyperson welders strengthen their skills and advance their careers through four days of Initial B Pressure training, offered at no cost to successful applicants.

SMAW F3F4 or GTAW F6F4

This course will provide theory, safety, and technical training for the Initial Alberta B Pressure qualification, using either SMAW F3F4 or GTAWF6/SMAWF4 on carbon steel. Upon successful completion of the course, students will have the opportunity to undergo the SMAW F3F4 or GTAW F6/SMAWF4 B Pressure qualification test on 6” x 0.432 W Sch 80 pipe.

Prerequisite: Alberta Journeyman certificate of proficiency, Alberta Journeyman equivalency document, or Journeyman Welder’s Interprovincial Red Seal certificate of competency.

Additional Program Details:

• Training is scheduled over two consecutive weekends. Training dates are pre-scheduled and are subject to shop availability.
• Applicants must be CLAC members with dues in good standing at the time of booking.
• Successful applicants will be asked to complete follow-up questionnaires about their experience and how the program has supported their career development and advancement.
• Photos of successful applicants participating in the program may be used by CLAC and/or Pathways Alliance for marketing and promotional purposes.
• Participants may also be invited to share their experience through a testimonial, story, or interview with CLAC and/or Pathways Alliance for promotional purposes.

Cancellation Policy

• A minimum of five business days’ notice is required to cancel or reschedule training.
• Applicants who do not attend their scheduled training without providing the required notice will forfeit their spot in the program and will no longer be eligible to participate.
