CLAC Career Development College is an accredited training institute for the Scaffold & Access Industry Association (SAIA), providing training for all levels – from beginner to journeyperson.
The SAIA Scaffolder Journeyperson Program is an apprenticeship-style program which includes theory and practical training to keep you safe, skilled and certified to work on any job site. This program was developed based on the provincial OH&S code, best practices, CSA Standard Z797-18, and the Scaffold & Access Industry Association (SAIA).
Level 1 covers erection and dismantle procedures, basic tools, scaffolding math, and industry regulations and safety. Students are introduced to the fundamentals of frame, system, and tube and clamp scaffolds. This level will heighten your safety knowledge of materials and codes within your region. Successful completion of the program grants second year apprentice status.
Pre-requisites:
Level 2 instructs students to build more advanced scaffolds. Instruction covers proper and safe work practices, basic blueprinting, and independent structure scaffolds including towers with buttresses, towers with cantilevers, area scaffolds, and scaffold runs. Successful completion of the program grants third year apprentice status.
Level 3 covers advanced theory including weight load math, advanced blueprinting, and take-off techniques. Practical components include blueprinted scaffolds with a focus on hangers and cantilevers. Successful completion of the program grants journeyperson status.
The SAIA Scaffold Challenge Program allows scaffolders with extensive experience the opportunity to have their skills, knowledge and experience assessed against SAIA standards so that they may earn SAIA Journeyperson Certification.
