Wednesday, May 1, 2019 Working Warriors Newsletters Did you know that 30 percent of the Manitoba population is made up of Indigenous peoples? This is a significant number that is, unfortunately, not reflected in the construction sector. We can do better. To that end, CLAC has entered into a partnership with Working Warriors in Manitoba—a cloud-based management platform that assists Indigenous communities with identifying their workforce, assets related to economic development, as well as managing their industry partnerships. They also act as a project management tool for employers on major capital projects and operations. We intend to work collaboratively with Working Warriors to ensure opportunities are created in Manitoba to encourage and enable participation by Indigenous peoples on projects in the construction sector; to create, develop, and promote project labour terms and conditions that facilitate greater participation from people in Indigenous communities in Manitoba; and to work cooperatively to ensure interested and qualified people from Indigenous communities are given access to opportunities for training and apprenticeships.
