#WomenWednesday – Nicole Haspeck
This Local 63 member works as an insulator at Brand Energy Solutions
Meet Nicole Haspeck, a Local 63 member who’s been working as an insulator at Brand Energy Solutions for four years. Nicole has been working in the trades since she was 21 years old, which has provided her with a comfortable lifestyle and the ability to enjoy her many hobbies, including horseback riding and playing sports.
“The one surprising thing I've learned in this job is how rewarding it is. It's not very repetitive and you get to stand back and look at what you did at the end of the day, and get that feeling of accomplishment,” says Nicole. “More recently in my role, I have been working with closed cell insulation, which requires me to be more meticulous during applications. It's given me the chance to take my time and do the best I can.
"My advice for young woman entering the trades is to stick up for yourself. If someone tells you that you aren't good enough, prove them wrong. And if you want to wear makeup to work, do it (even though a perk is you don't have to). The trades give you a chance to be strong and independent, with the ability to buy whatever you want with the money you make so you don't have to rely on anyone to support you financially.“
