Winners!

CLAC Scholarships

Congratulations to Larissa Janzen and Michelle Quibell, who each won a $1,500 CLAC scholarship for the 2021-2022 academic year. Larissa is the daughter of Steven Janzen, a Local 68 member employed by Matcon Excavating and Shoring Ltd. She is in the Journalism/Communications program at Thompson River University. Michelle is the spouse of Michael Quibell, a Local 68 member employed by Ledcor CMI. She is studying for her practical nursing diploma at Okanagan College.

Building Communities

Two causes nominated by Local 68 members won a donation as part of CLAC’s Building Communities program.

Ruth and Naomi's Mission received a $1,500 donation. The organization was nominated by Taylor Dombrowski, who is employed by Canadian Utility Construction Corp.

“The organization transforms the lives of the poor, the homeless, and the addicted by bringing hope and healing through the love of God,” says Taylor. “The local nonprofit feeds hundreds of people daily at no cost, as well as supplies housing to the less fortunate. We are grateful for CLAC’s donation to this meaningful cause.”

Together We Can Drug & Alcohol Recovery & Education Society received a $1,000 donation. The organization was nominated by Local 68 member Bradley Slatter, who is  employed by Productive Construction Ltd.

“TWC helps people with addiction rehabilitation, as well as provides education for families dealing with addiction,” says Bradley. “The donation from CLAC will help the organization through supporting its health and fitness, treatment, counselling, and family programs so that individuals and families can experiences lives free from addiction.”
