Locals Local 302 Local 303 Newsletters Ontario Healthcare Building Communities Great Cycle Challenge Canada rider Henrietta Olthoff Mulder received a $1,500 donation from CLAC as part of the union’s Building Communities program. The cause was nominated by Local 303 member Hilda Dean, who is employed by Oxford Manor Retirement Residence. “The Great Cycle Challenge started in 2016 and has become one of the biggest cycling events across Canada,” says Hilda. “All funds raised go to support the work of SickKids Foundation to provide care, develop treatments, and find a cure for childhood cancers. Henrietta rides in memory of her daughter, who passed away from cancer, so that those still fighting can have a brighter future. Since 2017, Henrietta has raised over $31,000 through cycling. CLAC’s donation contributes to her goal this year of $15,000.” CLAC Scholarships Congratulations to Valencia Camelino and Kensley Lindsay, who each won a $1,500 CLAC scholarship for the 2021-2022 academic year.
