Wednesday, June 17, 2020 Wexford Employees Secure Annual Wage Increases Locals Local 304 Ratifications Sectors Healthcare Scarborough, ON—Employees of The Wexford Residence Inc., in Scarborough, voted 81 percent in favour of ratifying a three-year collective agreement providing them with annual wage increases. The employees are represented by Health Care and Service Workers Union, CLAC Local 304. The union has represented the employees since 1994. The new three-year contract provides them with annual one percent wage increases over the term. In addition, employees working shifts after 3 p.m. will receive a 10 cents per hour premium, rising to 15 cents on November 1, 2021. Since an online ratification process was not possible, the union set up voting stations outside the facility, ensuring proper physical distance was maintained. Hand sanitizer and extra masks were also made available. The 33 dietary aides, porters, cooks, and cooks helpers at The Wexford voted in three groups at different times. “This was a difficult round of bargaining, given the limited funding and working during the pandemic,” says Ruth Ann Ferguson, CLAC representative. “The members were pleased with the outcome and that we could achieve a positive settlement despite the limitations.” Previous Next You might be interested in Why We Work Safely 5 Jun 2026 Standing Your Ground, and Staying Steady on the Job 4 Jun 2026 CLAC Partners with Alberta Government to Advance Skilled Trades Training and Accelerate Certification 4 Jun 2026 Strathcona Mechanical Workers Ratify New Agreement Providing Wage, Scheduling Improvements 3 Jun 2026
