Thursday, June 22, 2023 WB Melback Employees Secure Wage Increase, Other Enhancements with New Contract Locals Local 52 Ratifications Sectors Construction Haileybury, ON—Employees of WB Melback Corporation unanimously ratified a three-year collective agreement providing them with a wage increase and other enhancements. The company’s 50-plus unionized employees are represented by Construction Workers Union, CLAC Local 52. The union has represented them in Ontario since January 2015. The new contract provides an initial wage increase of five percent with a wage review for the second and third years. Additionally, the safety boot allowance was doubled from $75 to $150 per year, and a $2.50 per hour incentive program was negotiated. “As the unanimous result clearly demonstrates, the members felt strongly that this new agreement would meet their needs,” says Matt Walchuk, representative. WB Melback provides mechanical maintenance and industrial construction services to the forestry and mining sectors across Ontario and is headquartered in Haileybury, Ontario.
