The three-year contract includes combined increases of 8.5 percent in wages and employer contributions to the pension plan, additional coverage in vision care and the extended healthcare plan, improved travel provisions, the introduction of shift change pay, and paid time for attending training. “The bargaining committee was committed to this process and worked extremely hard to accomplish the priorities of the members at Wallwin Electric,” says Joshua Vanderlaan, CLAC representative. “We were able to find creative solutions to the issues that we needed to solve and ultimately negotiated a favourable agreement.” Wallwin Electric employs 45 CLAC members who perform electrical work in the Barrie area.
