Wages, Pensions Increase in New Contract with Brampton Brick

Brampton, ON—CLAC Local 52 members employed at Brampton Brick Ltd. (Block Division) have ratified a new three-year collective agreement. The contract received strong support, with 88 percent of workers voting in favour of it.
Highlights of the new agreement include a combined wage and pension increase of approximately two percent in each year of the collective agreement, increases to life insurance, and an increase to the personal health spending account. The boot allowance has been raised to $220 annually, with a provision to have the employer replace safety boots when they are worn out.
“This was an interesting round of negotiations with a number of interests being discussed at the table,” said bargaining committee member Jeff Hepinstall. “In the end, a good deal was reached between the union and the employer.”
Brampton Brick manufactures stone and brick products for residential and commercial construction projects.
