Thursday, December 15, 2022 Wage, Pension, Vacation Pay Gains for Gedco Excavating Employees with New Contract Locals Local 6 Ratifications Sectors Construction Brantford, ON—Employees of Brantford-based Gedco Excavating Ltd. voted in favour of a two-year renewed collective agreement providing increases to wages, pensions, and vacation pay. The settlement was negotiated by their union, Construction Workers Union, CLAC Local 6. The union has represented them since January 2014. The new contract provides for several monetary improvements, including annual wage increases of 6.9 percent and 3.5 percent for each year. Employees will also see pension contributions and vacation pay increased. Total classification package pay increases range between 13 and 20 percent over the term. Also of significance are completely reworked provisions governing improved travel time payment and reimbursement. “Union and management together knew that in the current high cost of living context that a fair and positive settlement for employees would require significant compensation increases,” says Roger Grootenboer, CLAC representative. “We were able to work in concert to deliver strong monetary value to our members. They can be assured that the weight of inflationary pressure on them and their families has been relieved.” You might be interested in Why We Work Safely 5 Jun 2026 Standing Your Ground, and Staying Steady on the Job 4 Jun 2026 CLAC Partners with Alberta Government to Advance Skilled Trades Training and Accelerate Certification 4 Jun 2026 Strathcona Mechanical Workers Ratify New Agreement Providing Wage, Scheduling Improvements 3 Jun 2026
