Wednesday, March 21, 2018 Wage Increases Are Highlight of Sylvan Lake Lodge Workers' New Contract Local 301 Ratifications Sylvan Lake, AB—Local 301 members working at Sylvan Lake Lodge recently ratified a new three-year collective agreement. CLAC represents 30 dietary, housekeeping, and maintenance workers at the seniors’ facility, which is owned by Sylvan Lake Foundation. Highlights of the new contract include annual wage increases of 2 percent, 2 percent, and 2.25 percent, better language for probationary employees that reflects recent changes to employment standards legislation in Alberta, and a more equitable means of dealing with people on call. “This round of bargaining with Sylvan Lake Lodge was a challenge,” says Ed De Bruyn, CLAC representative. “After months of meetings and two failed ratifications, we finally have a good contract for our members working at the Lodge. I am pleased that our members at Sylvan Lake Lodge earn a deserved fair income and in addition enjoy solid health, retirement, and training benefits through CLAC.” Sylvan Lake Lodge provides subsidized housing for seniors, in addition to offering meals, housekeeping, recreational programs and 24-hour staffing.
