Monday, March 15, 2021 Volunteer Firefighters of Greater Hamilton Ratify New Four-Year Contract A commitment to increase recruitment and staffing efforts is included in the new agreement Local 911 Ratifications Emergency Medical Services Hamilton, ON—After nearly a year of negotiations, the city of Hamilton’s volunteer firefighters have ratified a new four-year contract that provides wage increases, full DZ license coverage through the training department or additional funding to obtain through the Ministry of Transportation, and a commitment to increase recruitment and staffing efforts. The 185 employees covered by the agreement have been represented by Greater Hamilton Volunteer Firefighters Association, CLAC Local 911 since May 2002. Other highlights of the agreement include increases to life insurance, accidental death and dismemberment, CLAC training fund, and medical expenses. Spousal support, home and vehicle modification, and SCBA eyewear coverage were also added to the new agreement.
