Wednesday, August 19, 2020 Village on the Ridge Employees Gain Wage and Other Improvements with New Contract Locals Local 303 Ratifications Sectors Healthcare Ridgetown, ON—Employees of Village on the Ridge, a local long term care and retirement home, voted overwhelmingly in favour of a new collective agreement providing them with wage and other improvements. The employees are members of Southwestern Ontario Health Care and Service Workers Union, CLAC Local 303. The union has represented Village on the Ridge employees since 1995. The three-year agreement includes industry-standard wage increases for both long term care and retirement home employees. In addition, it provides improvements to health benefits coverage, paid bereavement time, and weekend premiums. “These improvements were necessary to keep up with the increased cost-of-living and benefit-cost increases,” says Mary Ellen Alward, CLAC representative. “The union’s bargaining committee did an excellent job bringing forward their fellow members’ priorities in negotiations and reaching a fair settlement with their employer.” Village on the Ridge is a 110-suite nursing and retirement home in Ridgetown owned by Revera.
