Thursday, February 11, 2021 TWI Employees Unanimously Ratify New Contract Locals Local 63 Ratifications Sectors Calgary—Local 63 members employed by TWI (Technical Workforce Inc.) roadbuilding and heavy construction division unanimously ratified a new collective agreement providing wage increases and other improvements. The 32-month agreement provides members with 1.5 percent wage increases in the first and second year of the contract. In addition, members receive three percent employer contributions to their RSP plan and two percent to their pension plan, plus one percent matching contribution. The employer has also agreed to shorten the wait period for short term disability from 14 days to 7, resulting in an increase to the premiums the employer pays. In addition, foreperson and lead-hand premiums have been moved from a flat per hour amount to a percentage, resulting in an increase to these premiums. “The increases we were able to achieve in this round of negotiations were very fair,” says Mike Montague, CLAC representative. “The overall construction industry in Alberta continues to struggle; however, despite this, we were able to make gains for our hard-working and hearty members working in the roadbuilding sector. They work outside in extreme Alberta weather using their incredible skills to keep Albertans moving, and we’re very proud to represent them.” You might be interested in Why We Work Safely 5 Jun 2026 Standing Your Ground, and Staying Steady on the Job 4 Jun 2026 CLAC Partners with Alberta Government to Advance Skilled Trades Training and Accelerate Certification 4 Jun 2026 Strathcona Mechanical Workers Ratify New Agreement Providing Wage, Scheduling Improvements 3 Jun 2026
