TWI Employees Ratify New Contract with Strong Majority

Calgary—Local 63 members employed by TWI (Technical Workforce Inc.) industrial and civil construction ratified a new collective agreement, with 86 percent voting in favour.

The two-year contract includes wage increases for the civil division of 1.5 percent effective July 1, 2021, and another 1.5 percent increase effective March 1, 2022. A wage review is scheduled for March 2023.

The majority of TWI’s employees are working in the Calgary region on a number of civil construction projects. A smaller number of members are working at two sites in the Fort McMurray region.

“The negotiation process was effective with strong endorsement of the settlement by the membership,” says Izzy Huygen, CLAC representative. “That the agreement includes three percent wage rate increases for the civil construction sector is a positive sign for a recovering economy and construction sector.”
