Featured Course: Working at Heights – Refresher

CLAC has WAH refresher courses running almost every day during 2019, so you should be able to find a course near you. This course takes four hours to complete and, like the full WAH program, expires after three years.

Confined Space Entry

This one-day course includes hazards of confined spaces, occupational health and safety regulations, entry preparation, working in confined spaces, and post entry.

Elevating Work Platforms (SL/BL)

Participants will gain an understanding of the basic theory of lifting devices, preoperational daily check-overs, safe refueling procedures, operational ability, fall hazards, and safety rules and regulations. Includes a practical evaluation.

Forklift Operator (Class 4/5/7)

This program helps forklift operators (telescopic, industrial, 2WD and 4WD) recognize and assess hazards. It covers the Canadian Standards Association’s (CSA) standards for forklifts (B335-94). Includes hands-on training.

This safety awareness course is designed to identify the dangers of hoisting materials to elevated heights and the mini-mum steps to be taken to ensure worker safety when involved in rigging procedures.

Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC) − Part 1 and 2

The Occupational Health and Safety Act requires most workplaces to have either a JHSC or a health and safety representative. Where a JHSC is required, at least two JHSC members—one management and one worker—must be certified by the Ministry of Labour.

Propane in Construction

Participants will learn to recognize and evaluate the hazards associated with propane. They will also learn to safely connect, disconnect, and activate propane equipment up to 400,000 BTUs/hour. This program is accredited by TSSA.

Standard First Aid and CPR/AED Level C

This two-day course is designed to provide various levels of CPR training based on the participant’s background, needs, and interest.

Traffic Control Awareness

This online course explains the techniques, equipment, and legal requirements for traffic control persons in a construction environment.

WHMIS (2015)

This online course aims to prevent workplace injuries, diseases, and deaths resulting from the storage and use of hazardous products.

Working at Heights

If you work on construction projects in Ontario and use travel restraint systems, fall restricting systems, fall arrest systems, safety nets, and work belts or safety belts as methods of fall protection, you need to complete a working at heights training program before you start work!
