CLAC provides real representation, real agreements, and real results for working Canadians

Rival unions and politically motivated individuals have recently attacked CLAC with a number of untrue statements.

Know the facts so you can spot the lies.

CLAC works for its members. CLAC is a real union. CLAC’s agreements are as good if not better than other unions. Anyone saying otherwise is desperate to mislead you.

CLAC works for its members.

CLAC has filed thousands of grievances and went to hundreds of arbitrations on behalf of its members. Our representatives show up on site, respond to your questions, and fight for your rights.

Representing working people is serious business. We treat it that way and work hard to balance short term interests with long term success—CLAC has been doing this reliably for almost 75 years, and our track record proves it.

CLAC is a real union.

CLAC has been certified by labour boards across Canada to represent workers over 3,000 times since 1952. We’re real because labour boards and our members say we are.

CLAC's agreements are as good if not better than other unions.

CLAC agreements are voted on and ratified by members. If members don’t like it, they reject it, and we go back to the bargaining table. CLAC negotiates and ratifies over 200 collective agreements every year. That’s success you can count.

Have some members chosen to join other unions? Yes. But the reality is many members have left other unions to join CLAC as well. That is the nature of a competitive union landscape. Other unions sign nonraid pacts agreeing not to compete with each other, which can make them unresponsive. CLAC does not do this and has actually increased worker choice in Canada.

Other trade unions have lost thousands of members, and they are desperately attacking CLAC because of it.

CLAC cares about its members and spends its time working and fighting for them. We don’t waste time trying to win political games and spreading lies about other unions.
