The Benefits of Representation!

While there are many benefits to belonging to a union, many of the things we do for members need to remain private

Here is a list of some of the ways we’ve helped members in recent months, without mentioning names.

10 Things We’ve Been Up To

  1. Your stewards have been enrolling in CLAC’s Mental Health First Aid course so they can better assist you in the workplace and in corrective action/discipline meetings.
  2. An employer put many key leaders through CLAC’s supervisor training program, providing them with better tools to help members in the workplace.
  3. We’ve held numerous labour-management meetings with employers to talk about key workplace issues.
  4. We’ve assisted members in making harassment complaints.
  5. We’ve addressed unfairness in scheduling of shifts.
  6. We’ve assisted members on CLAC’s benefits plan with counselling options and assisting with claims issues.
  7. We proved that an employee didn’t steal from their employer, and we negotiated a settlement for another employee who was wrongly terminated.
  8. We’ve delivered first aid training.
  9. We gave direct, assertive feedback about poor manager behaviours.
  10. We helped a group of employees bring forward safety issues, resulting in improved training and safety measures.
