Strong Wage Increase for Pro Electric Employees

London, ON—Contract renewal has been secured for the 130 employees of London-based Pro Electric Inc., with 77 percent of the employees voting in favour of the settlement negotiated by their union, Construction Workers Union, CLAC Local 53. New terms take effect on May 1, 2024.

The three-year contract provides for total value increases of 15.5 percent over three years. Actual value increases range between $8.71 per hour and $10.34 per hour dependent upon employee classification. The core of the settlement value was allocated to wage increases, with the electrical and plumbing journeypersons receiving an immediate wage increase of $4.41 per hour. The new collective agreement also provides for improved employer contributions to pension, enhanced tool and boot allowance, enhanced vacation pay, and new leaves of absence with pay.

“Our members at Pro Electric have been paid industry-leading wages, pension, and benefits,” says Roger Grootenboer, CLAC representative. “I am pleased that this settlement continues in this tradition. Equally, I am pleased by the strong endorsement of majority vote in support of the settlement confirming we got things right. The terms provide for fair, strong, and secure compensation improvements for our members and their families.”

Pro Electric Inc. is an electrical and mechanical contractor providing construction services for clients throughout central Ontario. A significant current project is the Centro Towers in downtown London, which when completed will be the tallest structure in the London skyline.
