Monday, November 7, 2022 Strong Majority of Local 63 Members Ratify New Contract with Ledcor Highways Locals Local 63 Ratifications Sectors Construction Edmonton—Local 63 members employed by Ledcor Highways Ltd. ratified a three-year collective agreement providing them with wage gains and many other improvements to the agreement. The 150-plus members work in eight different shops across Alberta. Using an interest-based bargaining approach, the union bargaining committee was able to address many issues, including those not reflected in changes to their contract. In addition, members will see increases up to seven percent. The agreement received strong endorsement from the membership, with 86 percent voting in favour. “Negotiations were long and complicated, with many issues that needed to be addressed,” says Melanie St. Andrews, representative. “Bargaining began in June and covered 13 sets of negotiations to reach a settlement that was fair for our members while allowing the company to remain competitive in securing current and future work.” The members employed by Ledcor Highways keep many roads across Alberta safe and clear of snow during the winter months as well as performing maintenance work on roads and equipment.
