I work at Save-On-Foods store #4415, which is the St. James location in Winnipeg. How do you find being a steward fulfilling? Being a steward is a fulfilling role because I get to assist my coworkers with various issues. What have you been a part of so far as a steward? I have had the opportunity to assist in various situations, including discipline, termination, bargaining, and health and safety queries. Can you describe a successful experience you have had as a steward? I assisted a coworker dealing with mental health issues talk with management to explain how her mental state was affecting her attendance and how collectively the union and employer were able to accommodate her. How do you see your role as a steward impacting the workplace and employees? I see my role as one that exists to positively help all of my coworkers with a wide range of issues and concerns. It is a humbling experience and a role I do not take lightly. Is there any advice you would like to give to members or other stewards? Be yourself, be friendly, and be open to all kinds of questions.
