I am a direct support professional (DSP), which is a very fulfilling job. How do you view your roles as a steward? My role as a steward is important. When it comes to earning trust from my coworkers, they know I’m here for them. What do you find satisfying about your role as a steward? Knowing that I’ve built a positive relationship with my coworkers is really rewarding. They trust me and feel comfortable coming to me with their concerns, knowing that I will listen without judgment. They know I’m there for them and will do my best to help. It’s also nice to hear from them that I’m doing a great job. What is frustrating about your role as a steward? Would you change the fact that you’re a steward? There are times when I feel I could be even more effective with additional training or resources. Sometimes, coworkers feel that management hasn’t really listened, and their concerns weren’t fully heard. I wouldn’t change the fact that I am a steward. I know with more knowledge and experience, I can do an even better job and help achieve positive outcomes.
