Wednesday, February 24, 2021 Steward Profile Nadine Foster, Save-On-Foods Locals Local 306 Newsletters Manitoba Local 306 Why do you work at Save-On-Foods? I moved to Canada in Sept 2016. It was my first time in Canada. I knew I had to look for a job, so I started looking online where I found this company Save-On-Foods. I researched the company and saw that it was a long-time growing company, so I applied. I was hired in October 2016. One of the best things I love about working at SOF is that every team member gets a chance to grow with the company, and the company has a good reputation. Managers and team members all around you can feel the love and care from everyone in this company. I love working with this company and I plan to retire working for SOF. What made you interested in the steward role? I became interested in this role because I love meeting and interacting with people. I am a great listener and I have efficient communication skills. I have what it takes to be a voice or representative of my team members. With this new role comes new challenges, which is what I am looking for. What’s been satisfying about being a steward? I feel satisfied when team members feel safe enough to come and ask for advice or help from me. What’s been frustrating? Some team members do not speak out about their issues. If you could change one thing, what would it be? If I could change one thing I would increase the training hours for team members. What do workers need most during this pandemic? Workers need to feel safe and secure in the workplace. They also need to feel appreciated. To ensure their safety, health, and well-being, they need assurance that you care.
