Tuesday, December 17, 2019 St. Andrew's Employees Gain Wage and Other Improvements with New Contract Ratifications Chatham, ON—Employees of St. Andrew’s Residence have a new three-year collective agreement. The employees are members of Southwestern Ontario Health Care and Service Workers Union, CLAC Local 303. The union has represented St. Andrew’s Residence employees since February 2002. The three-year agreement includes wage increases of six percent over the term. In addition, it provides improvements to health benefits coverage and sick time. These improvements were awarded by an independent arbitrator as a result of the parties being unable to come to a resolution on their own. “This was a hard-fought wage increase,” says Trish Douma, CLAC regional director. “The elected bargaining committee is in touch with the needs and priorities of their fellow members and the union was able to move quickly to arbitration.” St. Andrew’s Residence is a seventy bed retirement home in Chatham.
