Monday, November 7, 2022 Solid Yearly Wage Gains for AE Concrete Employees with New Contract Locals Local 68 Ratifications Sectors Construction Surrey, BC—Employees of AE Concrete Products Inc. voted 88 percent in favour of a four-year collective agreement providing them with annual wage increases and other improvements. The employees are represented by Construction Workers Union, CLAC Local 68. The union has represented them since 1982. The new contract provides for immediate wage increases ranging between 3.6 and 6.2 percent, depending on classification and level, retroactive to May 15, 2022. In addition, employees will receive the following increases or COLA (whichever is higher) over the next three years: 3.4 percent increase in 2023, 3.1 percent in 2024, and 2.5 percent in 2025. The agreement also includes an increase to the meal allowance (from $14 to $18), an increase to the afternoon shift premium from 50 to 75 cents per hour, and the addition of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation as a statutory holiday. The contract also includes a number of nonmonetary improvements as well. “This was an extremely difficult set of negotiations,” says Aleasha Wegner, CLAC representative. “There was quite a bit of back and forth between both sides. The union bargaining committee was passionate about what they needed to bring back to the membership, and the strong vote in favour showed that they definitely delivered.” You might be interested in Why We Work Safely 5 Jun 2026 Standing Your Ground, and Staying Steady on the Job 4 Jun 2026 CLAC Partners with Alberta Government to Advance Skilled Trades Training and Accelerate Certification 4 Jun 2026 Strathcona Mechanical Workers Ratify New Agreement Providing Wage, Scheduling Improvements 3 Jun 2026
