Monday, October 17, 2022 Solid Wage Gains for CMG Innovation Employees with New Contract Locals Local 52 Ratifications Sectors Construction Summerstown, ON—Local 52 members employed as labourers and carpenters by CMG Innovation Co Ltd., based in Summerstown, Ontario, overwhelming ratified a three-year collective agreement providing them with solid wage increases and other improvements. The local has represented the members since 2001. The new contract, ratified by 89 percent of members, includes a 12 percent increase to wages over the term. Vacation pay, inclusive of statutory holidays, increased to 12 percent. In addition, the premium for asbestos work was increased as well as the clothing and the personal protective equipment allowance to $300 per year. The employer has also agreed to provide rubber boots to employees. Daily overtime will now be paid after nine hours of work instead of ten, The foreperson premium was increased to $2.25 per hour. “We are very pleased with the outcome of bargaining and the settlement achieved,” says Jennifer Kennedy, representative. “This is the largest increase members employed by CMG have ever received, which is indicative of the inflationary times we are living in.” CMG Innovation is a general contractor offering services in the industrial, commercial, and institutional construction sector as well as abatement and remediation services for hazardous materials such as asbestos, lead, and mould.
