Saturday, November 30, 2019 Skills for Jobs Taskforce Newsletters Sectors Construction Recently, the Alberta government announced the creation of the Skills for Jobs Taskforce, which has a mandate to “find ways to expand and strengthen education and skilled trades opportunities to meet labour demands” in Alberta. The taskforce is made up of representatives from industry, labour, community agencies, and education leaders in both K-12 and postsecondary. “CLAC has and continues to be a strong advocate for the skilled trades,” says Dennis Perrin, Prairies director. Dennis was one of the appointees to the taskforce and has the proud responsibility of representing Local 63 members working in the skilled trades. “We are honoured to serve the province of Alberta by promoting and enhancing skilled trades and vocations. They are the backbone of our economy and absolutely essential to our infrastructure.
