Skilled Trades Ontario: Exam Scheduling Update

Have you heard about the changes to scheduling your exam? As of April 2, the process for exam scheduling has been reassigned to Skilled Trades Ontario

Check out the new process:

Confirm your eligibility to take a certifying exam.
Pay your exam fee of $150 + HST.
- Contact Skilled Trades Ontario to make your payment at 647-847-3000, or toll free in Ontario at 1-855-299-0028. Hours of operation are Monday to Friday, 7:00 am to 7:00 pm EST.
- Exception: If you complete your apprenticeship program in Ontario from January 1, 2025 onward, you do not need to pay for your first exam attempt.
Receive your Authorization to Test letter from Skilled Trades Ontario.

After payment, you will receive an Authorization to Test letter by email (or mail if you do not have email access). This letter is essential:
- It includes your Eligibility Number (required to schedule your exam).
- It provides exam scheduling instructions, including the new online scheduling system.
- You must bring a printed copy of the letter on exam day.
- Each letter and Eligibility Number is unique to each exam attempt.

Request exam accommodations.

If you require any accommodation under the Human Rights Code to assist with your exam, they can be arranged through Skilled Trades Ontario. Find a list of available accommodations here.

- Your accommodation request must be approved by Skilled Trades Ontario before you schedule your exam.
- You must submit an Exam Accommodation Request Form and any supporting documentation each time you request accommodations, even if you’ve had accommodations before.
- Submit your form and documents by:
  - Email: accommodations@skilledtradesontario.ca or
  - Mail: PO Box 2354 RPO SQ1 Shoppers, Mississauga, ON. L5B 3C8
- Not all test centres can support all accommodation types. Depending on your needs, you may need to travel to a different test centre outside of your preferred test location.
- Once you have submitted the form, Skilled Trades Ontario may contact you to discuss your request. All requests are confidential and subject to review and approval by Skilled Trades Ontario.

Use our new online booking system to schedule your exam at your convenience. Follow the instructions from your Authorization to Test letter.

Reschedule/cancel/no show policy

If you cancel or reschedule:

- One or more days before your appointment—No charge, and you can continue to use your existing Authorization to Test letter and Exam Eligibility Number.
- On the day of your appointment— You will forfeit your exam fee. A new payment to Skilled Trades Ontario is required to reschedule your exam, at which point you will receive a new Authorization to Test letter with a new Exam Eligibility Number.
Receive your exam results.

Skilled Trades Ontario will provide your results and outline your next steps once your exam is completed. There is a 30-day mandatory waiting period between exam attempts.
