Monday, November 11, 2019 Significant Gains for MMR Industrial Employees with First Contract Locals Local 63 Ratifications Sectors Construction Fort McMurray, AB—Employees of MMR Industrial Constructors Limited voted unanimously in favour of ratifying their first collective agreement providing them with significant wage, benefits, and retirement savings improvements. The employees are represented by Construction Workers Union, CLAC Local 63. The local was certified by the Alberta Labour Relations Board in October to represent the 30 electricians employed by the company. The new 30-month contract provides employees with increases to wages, vacation, and statutory holiday pay. It also includes a retirement savings package with eight percent employer contributions and a benefits package fully paid by the employer. “Our new members made some substantial gains with their first contract,” says Izzy Huygen, CLAC representative. “A number of them have worked with CLAC contractors before and enjoyed our collaborative approach of working together to help them and their company succeed.” “The boys are all looking forward to working with CLAC again,” says George Brake, CLAC steward.
