Wednesday, November 20, 2019 Sensible Labour Code Amendments Newsletters Following an extensive review and consultation process conducted by a review panel of seasoned labour relations experts, Bill 30 received royal assent on May 30, 2019, enacting numerous changes to BC’s Labour Relations Code. CLAC is supportive of the resulting, sensible amendments captured by the bill, which include a shorter window for certification votes and new rules concerning the frequency of open periods. These amendments align BC with other jurisdictions throughout Canada. “The labour code changes promote access to unionization and stability for workers in the construction industry,” says Ryan Bruce, BC government relations manager. “CLAC is pleased to see a common-sense approach prevail. We will continue to advocate for positive legislative changes on behalf of all workers in the province.” You might be interested in Standing Your Ground, and Staying Steady on the Job 4 Jun 2026 CLAC Partners with Alberta Government to Advance Skilled Trades Training and Accelerate Certification 4 Jun 2026 Strathcona Mechanical Workers Ratify New Agreement Providing Wage, Scheduling Improvements 3 Jun 2026 Ready to Deliver 3 Jun 2026
