Royal Ready-Mix Employees Secure Wage, Pension, Benefits Improvements

Oakville, ON—Employees of Royal Ready-Mix Inc., based in Oakville, ratified a three-year collective agreement providing them with increases to wages and pension plan contributions and improvements to their benefits plan.

The employees, who are employed as drivers, yardmen, and loader operators, are represented by Construction Workers Union, CLAC Local 52. The union has represented them since 2007.

The new contract provides them with two percent annual wage increases over the term. Employer contributions to the pension plan were increased by one percent to a total of nine percent. Employees also gained improvements to their benefits plan including to paramedical and dental services and prescription drug coverage.

“The union bargaining committee negotiated a strong agreement that will help to provide our members security through these uncertain times,” says Joshua Vanderlaan, CLAC representative. “Negotiations were conducted remotely, but we were able to adjust to the situation and secure increases for our members.”
