The employees are represented by Construction Workers Union, CLAC Local 52. The union has represented them since September 2016. The new contract provides the electricians with a $9 per hour wage increase over the term. In addition, employer contributions to employees’ pension plan will increase three percent over the term. Benefits coverage will now be through the CLAC benefits plan and include vision care. An extra $100 toward the purchase of boots and work apparel was also negotiated. “The union bargaining committee worked hard to achieve the priorities of the membership,” says Josh Vanderlaan, CLAC representative. “The unanimous ratification vote confirms that this settlement has met their expectations, and it will also help the employer to recruit new electricians.” Ridgeline is an electrical contractor serving the GTA.
