Expert Electrical Solutions Inc.

Local 53 members employed by this Tecumseh-based contractor unanimously ratified a 3-year agreement providing yearly wage and retirement increases as well as increases to vacation pay and vision coverage, travel, mileage, and tool allowances.

Matheson Constructors Limited

Local 52 members employed by this Aurora-based contractor unanimously ratified a 3-year agreement providing wage increases between 13 and 17% over the term, with the majority coming immediately at ratification. The updated wage scale includes new categories for better advancement of members as they gain experience and expertise. In addition, members’ vacation pay, which combines vacation, holiday, and personal leave pay, increases from 10% to 10.8%—the equivalent of 2 paid days per year. A significant increase to the hourly benefits amount was also negotiated, which allows for enhanced benefits coverage, plus an improved shift premium and an improved boot and work wear allowance.

McLean Taylor Construction Limited

Local 53 members employed by this St. Mary’s-based contractor voted 81% in favour of ratifying a 3-year agreement providing them with wage increases of 16 to 21% over the term along with an 18% increase to employer contributions to members’ pension plan, plus significant increases to matching contributions. In addition, premiums, allowances, and travel pay also were increased, including an increase to the boot, tool, and wellness allowance to $650 over 3 years, while the threshold for weekly overtime pay was reduced to 45 hours from 47.

Randen Electrical Systems

Local 6 members employed by this Grimsby-based electrical contractor unanimously ratified a 2-year agreement providing them with 11.6% total package increases for journeyperson electricians over the term. The package includes increases to wages, employer contributions to members’ pension plan, and vacation pay. The annual safety equipment allowance was also increased by $50 bringing it up to $250.

Romag Contracting Ltd.

Local 52 members employed by this Mississauga-based contractor unanimously ratified a 3-year agreement providing them with 18.5% wage increases. In addition, employer contributions to members’ pension plan increases to 8% and mileage reimbursement increases to 60¢/km.

Viewcon Construction Ltd.

Local 53 members employed by this Woodstock-based contractor ratified a 3-year agreement providing them with wage increases of $1.25/hr., $1/hr., and 80¢/hr. Retirement savings increased to 10%, boot and tool allowances increased to between $100 and $150, mileage increases by 10¢/km., per diem allowance increases by $10/day, shift premium increases by $1/hr., vacation increases to 8% after 10 years and 10% after 15, bereavement leave increases by 1 day, vision coverage increases to $350, life insurance/AD&D payout increases to $60,000, and dental coverage improves.
