Ratifications

Dean-Lane Contractors Inc.

The 45 Local 53 members employed as sheet metal workers and refrigeration mechanics by this Kitchener-based contractor ratified a 3-year agreement with 97% voting in favour providing them with wage increases totalling 12 to 15% over the term. In addition, employer contributions to the members’ pension plan will increase by 4% to a total of 13% over the term. Members’ boot allowance will increase from $200 to $300/yr., and orthodontic care was added to their benefits plan.

DeFran Electric Inc.

Local 52 members employed by this Etobicoke-based contractor ratified their first agreement. The 3-year contract provides them with wage increases, the introduction of employer-paid pension, employer-paid benefits, access to the union’s training program, and improved vacation pay.

Kingdom Construction Limited

Local 52 members employed by this Ayr-based contractor unanimously ratified a 3-year agreement providing them with a total value increase of 7.1%. Along with solid hourly pay increases each year, the new contract also provides for improved employer contributions to members’ pension plan, improved funding for healthcare benefits, and higher allowance for workwear and boot purchases. Equally important were increased rates for employee travel, mileage reimbursement, and daily living-out allowances.

M.W. Coating Systems Ltd.

Local 6 members employed by this contractor based in Stoney Creek unanimously ratified a 3-year agreement providing annual wage increases of 3%. In addition, improvements were made to employer contributions to members’ pension plan, health benefits, and the union industry fund.

Mortlock Construction Inc.

Local 52 members employed by this Peterborough-based contractor unanimously ratified a 3-year agreement providing a $1.05 wage increase in each of the 3 years of the agreement, employment pension contributions that increase annually (3.5%, 4.5%, and 5.5%), and an increase to the employees’ boot, tool, and clothing allowance.

PSE Services

Local 52 members employed by this King township-based contractor unanimously ratified their first agreement. Highlights of the 3-year contract include yearly wage increases over the term ($37.00, $38.50, and $40.00, respectively); a $300 boot, tool, and clothing allowance; 4% employer pension contributions; and afternoon- and night-shift premiums. The employer will also cover all benefits plan costs beginning in August 2022.

Royal Ready Construction Ltd.

Local 52 members employed by this Oakville-based contractor voted 85% in favour of ratifying a new agreement providing them with a 3% annual wage increase. In addition, all members will now receive 10% contributions to their pension plan, while those with 15 years of service or more will continue to receive 12%.
