The agreement also includes the addition of a boot allowance, a prescription safety eyewear allowance, increase to the daily food allowance, and improved travel pay provisions. Gedco Excavating Ltd. Local 6 members of this Brantford-based contractor ratified a 2-year agreement providing annual wage increases of 6.9% and 3.5% for each year. Members will also see pension contributions and vacation pay increased. Total classification package pay increases range between 13 and 20% over the term. Also of significance are completely reworked provisions governing improved travel time payment and reimbursement. Johnson Electric Inc. Local 53 members employed by this London-based company unanimously ratified a 3-year agreement providing licensed electricians with total package compensation improvements of up to $8.19/hr. over the term. The contract also provides improvements to contributions to healthcare benefits, travel compensation, pension contributions, mileage reimbursement, and living-out allowances. Koler Construction Local 52 members employed by this company based in North York unanimously ratified a 3-year agreement providing them 11 percent wage increases over the term. In addition, the boot allowance was increased by $100, and double time will now be paid for work on statutory holidays. Made Electric Inc. Local 52 members employed as electricians and electrician apprentices this Toronto-based contractor unanimously ratified their first agreement providing them with wages of $40/hr. followed by $1/hr. increases in 2023 and 2024. In addition, members will be enrolled in the CLAC Pension Plan, with employer contributions of 8% followed by 1% increases 2023 and 2024. Members will also be enrolled in CLAC’s benefits plan, with premiums paid by the employer. Other improvements include an annual $500 boot and tool allowance and the addition of 10% shift, 12% foreperson, and 6% lead-hand premiums. Pro Trades Mechanical Inc. Local 53 members of this contractor based in Windsor and Ridgetown ratified a first agreement providing. With their first contract, the journeyperson maximum rate rises to $38/hr. while the top rate for skilled labourers rises to $29.13/hr. In addition, the employer will contribute 5% to the employees’ pension plan, rising to 5.5% in 2023 and 6% in 2024. Employees will be provided with employer-paid benefits for life insurance, AD&D, drug, paramedical, vision, and dental coverage. A boot allowance of $275 per year and uniform allowance of $225 per year were negotiated, along with hourly premiums for added skills, such as master electrician. The contract also includes an additional level of vacation pay for employees with more than 10 years of service, paid travel time, and an increase to on-call pay. Rumble Electric Co Ltd. Local 52 members of this Toronto-based contractor ratified a three-year agreement providing them an immediate raise of $2.43/hr. followed by raises of $1.15 and $1.05/hr. in following 2 years. The contract also includes new paid personal/sick days for longer term employees and improvements to the boot allowance and travel provisions, while maintaining industry-leading employer pension contributions.
