Thursday, June 7, 2018 Provincial Construction Employees See Pension Improvements in New Contract Ratifications Grimsby, ON—CLAC members employed at Provincial Construction Ltd. recently ratified a three-year collective agreement. Highlights of the new contract include · wage improvements of 25 cents per hour in each of the three years · pension contribution increases of 65 cents per hour in year one, and 45 cents in years two and three · a boot allowance increase · a new overtime premium effective after 10 hours per day. It was a good round of bargaining,” said Ron Reid, a union steward who was part of the bargaining committee. “Although we had to go back to the table to deal with some outstanding issues after the first ratification attempt, we were still able to work through the issues respectfully. We focused on the pension this round and feel we have a fair deal in place.” The agreement covers 25 employees, including equipment operators, pipe layers, labourers, mechanics, and truck drivers. Provincial Construction does sewer and water main work throughout the Niagara region. CLAC members are working or have worked at jobs sites in Niagara and Welland.
