Friday, April 17, 2026 Pro Trades Mechanical Employees Unanimously Ratify New Contract Securing Wage and Benefits Gains Local 53 Ratifications Construction WINDSOR, ON—Employees of Pro Trades Mechanical Inc., a mechanical contractor based in Windsor, Ontario, unanimously ratified a three-year collective agreement providing wage increases, improved benefits, and enhanced allowances. The employees are represented by Construction Workers Union, CLAC Local 53. The union has represented the company’s employees since 2022. The 31-member group, which includes workers in electrical, plumbing, sheet metal, and HVAC, secured wage increases of 13.85 percent over the term. The agreement also includes a 1.5 percent increase to pension contributions, improvements to vision care, life insurance and AD&D, paramedical coverage, and the addition of major restorative benefits. Members will also see an increase to the travel allowance from $50 to $65. Additional improvements include the introduction of 15- and 25-year vacation pay milestones, changes to combine boot and uniform allowances for greater flexibility, and a daily meal allowance for out-of-town work exceeding 10.5 hours. “Given the current economic environment, we’re pleased to achieve meaningful wage increases and improvements to benefits,” says Mary Ellen VanderSluis, CLAC representative. “This agreement also recognizes the long term contributions of members through enhanced vacation provisions while maintaining strong overall compensation.” Pro Trades Mechanical Inc. provides mechanical contracting services, including electrical, plumbing, sheet metal, and HVAC work across the Windsor region.
