Thursday, April 1, 2021 Pro Electric Employees Secure Significant Increases with New Contract Locals Local 53 Ratifications Sectors Construction London, ON—The employees of London-based Pro Electric Inc. have strongly endorsed the terms for a renewed collective agreement providing them with significant increases to wages, pension, and benefits. The settlement was negotiated by their union, Construction Workers Union, CLAC Local 53. Terms of the three-year settlement take effect May 1, 2021. CLAC Local 53 was first certified as the union for the employees in 1975 by the Ontario Labour Relations Board. Settlement highlights include an overall increase of 10.3 percent for journeypersons over three years, a value of $5.10 per hour. Along with a strong wage increase, the settlement also secures a two percent improvement to employee pensions, along with improved healthcare benefits coverage for orthotics and dental annual claims. Working forepersons will also gain significant improvement in the form of a responsibility premium set as high as 20 percent. “For 46 years, management and CLAC Local 53 have worked together to culture a workplace where people are valued for their skills and work and are paid industry-leading wages,” says Roger Grootenboer, CLAC representative. “Pro Electric is the kind of workplace where employees are hired and later decide to stay. They stay because the pay is great; but more than that, they stay because the employer and union have worked hard at instilling a workplace culture of community. Simply put, employees feel valued, well represented, and find it is good place to work.” You might be interested in Why We Work Safely 5 Jun 2026 Standing Your Ground, and Staying Steady on the Job 4 Jun 2026 CLAC Partners with Alberta Government to Advance Skilled Trades Training and Accelerate Certification 4 Jun 2026 Strathcona Mechanical Workers Ratify New Agreement Providing Wage, Scheduling Improvements 3 Jun 2026
