The 135 employees are represented by Health Care and Service Workers Union, CLAC Local 304. The union has represented the home’s employees since 1981. The new contract provides a three percent general wage increase in each year of the agreement. It also enshrines in the wage grid the $3 per hour provincial wage enhancement provided to personal support workers during the pandemic. The agreement provides special adjustments for RPNs and cooks as well as for dietary, housekeeping, laundry, and maintenance staff. Vision coverage was increased, an evening shift premium was introduced along with an improved weekend premium, and the in-lieu-of-benefits premium for part-time staff was increased. Bereavement leave will now also be provided for the death of a stepchild or stepparent. “This is a solid agreement for our members at Pine Grove Lodge,” says Patricia Pot, CLAC representative. “The union bargaining committee did an excellent job identifying members’ needs and achieving them in negotiations, resulting in overwhelming endorsement of the agreement by the membership, with 90 percent voting in favour.” You might be interested in Why We Work Safely 5 Jun 2026 Standing Your Ground, and Staying Steady on the Job 4 Jun 2026 CLAC Partners with Alberta Government to Advance Skilled Trades Training and Accelerate Certification 4 Jun 2026 Strathcona Mechanical Workers Ratify New Agreement Providing Wage, Scheduling Improvements 3 Jun 2026
