Friday, August 27, 2021 Physical Testing and Team Building On May 31 and June 1, 2021, volunteer firefighters from across the City of Greater Sudbury region participated in the physical testing of candidates for the volunteer service. Locals Local 920 Newsletters Ontario Emergency Services Over the course of two full days, candidates for the volunteer service were put through the rigorous physical testing elements, with the guidance and expertise of experienced volunteer firefighters. Local 920 volunteer firefighters were very eager to meet the candidates and get to know them while building rapport and helping them meet the challenges that come from joining a volunteer firefighter service. This was a great opportunity for new candidates to meet experienced volunteer firefighters while they overcame the challenges posed by the physical testing. There are several timed elements that candidates must face including a ladder climb, dummy drag, hose drag, and lifting test all under the supervision and direction of volunteer firefighters. In all, these were two great days of team building and camaraderie for candidates and volunteers alike.
