Paving Ltd., a road-paving contractor based in Penticton, BC, ratified a five-year collective agreement providing them with solid wage gains and other improvements. Local 68 was certified by the BC Labour Relations Board as the representative of the company’s employees in November 1975—nearly 50 years ago. Members who have been with the company for five or more years have the option for an additional two percent matching RSP contribution. Other improvements include increases to the tool and boot allowance to $250 annually for each and increases in the night-shift premium, which rises from $1.50 to $3.50 per hour by 2029. Peter’s Bros. Paving employs over 80 Local 68 members who work as mechanics, equipment operators, plant operators, skilled labourers, rakermen, and truck drivers. The company has been working most recently in Summerland, Princeton, Penticton, and northern BC.
