Tuesday, November 11, 2025 Parr Mechanical Employees Ratify Strong First Agreement Local 53 Ratifications Construction STRATFORD, ON—Employees of Parr Mechanical Plumbing & Heating Inc. voted 97.6 percent in favour of ratifying their first collective agreement, establishing a solid foundation for a long term and productive relationship between the company and its employees. The employees are represented by Construction Workers Union, CLAC Local 53. The union was certified to represent the company’s employees by the Ontario Labour Relations Board in August of this year. The new three‑year contract, effective November 1, 2025, to October 31, 2028, delivers significant improvements in wages, benefits, and retirement provisions. Journeyperson wages jump from $40 to $44.50 per hour at the start of the agreement, followed by increases of 2.5 percent in the second year and 3 percent in the third. Employees will now participate in the CLAC Pension Plan, starting with a four percent employer contribution and rising to six percent by the third year. The company is also transitioning to CLAC’s comprehensive benefits plan, which includes a substantial increase in life and accidental death and dismemberment insurance; new vision care coverage of $500 every two years; and enhanced dental, prescription, and paramedical benefits. The agreement further adds annual tool and boot allowances and introduces paid sick days that grow with years of service. Premiums have been implemented for licensed gas fitters and newly defined responsibility roles, including lead hand, foreperson, and general foreperson. “This agreement marks the beginning of what we hope will be a long term, productive relationship between the company and its employees,” says Marco Mueller, CLAC representative. “It lays a strong foundation for continued collaboration by promoting transparency, fairness, and respect in the workplace, providing stability and consistency for employees and the company alike. The agreement ensures that that everyone can continue to work together toward shared success in the years to come.” Parr Mechanical, a mechanical contractor based in Stratford, provides residential, commercial, and industrial plumbing, heating, and mechanical services throughout southwestern Ontario. The agreement covers 51 employees working primarily at projects in Stratford, Windsor, and Collingwood.
